How to Update Rock7 Devices Firmware

All of the Rock7 devices can be updated using the TracPlus TP Connect App on any iOS device, or by using the RockCONNECT App on either iOS or Android devices.

The RockAIR and RockSTAR devices can also be updated by copying the firmware file to the RockSTAR or RockAIR. The latest firmware versions are provided below. The respective firmware to use with each device is:

  • For the RockAIR use the firmware GRIFFIN1.BIN.  The latest version of this is 2.8.13.
  • For the RockSTAR use the firmware Leopard3.BIN.  The lastest version of this is 3.9.10.

The firmware for the RockFLEET and the RockFLEET GSM devices can only be installed using either the TracPlus TP CONNECT App or the RockCONNECT App.

Updating the Firmware with TP Connect (using an iOS device only)

To update your firmware for the RockAIR, RockFLEET, RockFLEET GSM or the RockSTAR, please do the following:

  1. If you do not already have TP Connect, download it from the AppStore onto an iOS device.
  2. Ensure that Bluetooth is enabled on your iOS device and that you have an Internet connection.
  3. Using TP Connect, select the RockAIR device from the list of possible devices to connect to or choose "Connect to Device".
  4. If prompted, enter the device PIN (default 1234).
  5. Tap 'My Device', then ‘Firmware Update’.
  6. Select ‘Update’ from the top right of this screen. The App will search for the latest firmware version and will begin to download it.
  7. Once downloaded, both the power and Bluetooth LEDs will flash to indicate the firmware is being updated.
  8. All six LEDs will then flash as the RockAIR restarts with the new firmware. TP Connect will lose connection with the device as this happens. This is expected.
  9. Once the RockAIR has restarted, reconnect with TP Connect and use "About" to check the device firmware shows "GF 02.08.01".

The firmware download to your iOS device is less than 200k, and the update process should take no longer than 10 minutes.

  9. All six LEDs will then flash as the RockAIR restarts with the new firmware. RockCONNECT will lose connection with the device as this happens. This is expected.
  10. Once the RockAIR has restarted, reconnect with RockCONNECT and use "About" to check the device firmware shows "GF 02.08.01".
